School News

Pelican Nursery is set within acres of woodland and open green space on the  Prep site, offering children daily access to the outdoors. Surrounded by natural play areas and expansive grounds, the setting enables young learners to explore, move and learn in a calm, inspiring environment where nature is central to daily life.

At the heart of the nursery is the much‑loved giant tree house, a distinctive feature that supports imaginative play, physical development and confidence building. Combined with woodland paths, climbing opportunities and open spaces, it provides rich experiences that encourage curiosity and independence from an early age.

The decision to expand reflects increasing demand from families for flexible, full‑year childcare, alongside a strong desire for high‑quality early education rooted in outdoor learning. From September 2026, the new dedicated baby room will offer a nurturing and carefully designed space for children from 6 months, supporting their individual needs while gently introducing sensory outdoor experiences as part of their routine.

Outdoor learning is a defining feature of Pelican Nursery and remains integral to its ethos. Children spend significant time outside throughout the year, exploring seasonal changes, developing resilience and building physical wellbeing. Our experienced staff use the natural environment to support early development, creativity and learning through exploration.

By extending to year‑round opening and enhancing provision for babies,we aim to provide families with greater continuity of care while maintaining the values that underpin The Pelican Difference; space, nature, and a child‑centred approach that allows young children to thrive.

As part of King’s College Prep, this approach supports a smooth and seamless transition into Pre-Prep, ensuring children move confidently through each stage of their early education within a familiar, nurturing environment.
