Regular monthly gifts have a significant cumulative impact. They allow us to plan with confidence, increase bursary places, and support new projects year after year. Join The 1880 Club at a level that suits you and make a lasting difference to life at King’s.
A gift in your Will is a meaningful statement of belief in the future of King’s. Legacy gifts often support bursaries, the preservation of our historic buildings, or the growth of our endowment. Those who share their intentions are warmly welcomed into the Old Pelicans Legacy Society, ensuring you remain connected to the impact your future gift will have.
Every few years, our global community comes together to support bursaries and important projects. Matching challenges and participation targets ensure that every gift, whether big or small, truly makes a difference. Watch out for details and get involved from anywhere in the world.
Share your time and expertise. Offer a work placement, speak at an event, or mentor a pupil or recent leaver. Practical support like this strengthens the King’s network and helps young people take their next steps with confidence.
A Gift of a King’s Education
In founding King’s, Canon Woodard’s aim was to make a first-class education accessible to a much broader spectrum of society. He was an early standard bearer for educational equality.
Our aim is to increase the number of free places at King’s College to pay for the education of academically gifted, local children. We will do this by raising funds to spend immediately on new places, while also building up a substantial endowment fund to ensure the provision of bursaries in perpetuity.
If you would like to provide the gift of a King’s education, please do get in touch with us on development@kings-taunton.co.uk or on 07826 969012.
The Somerset Scholarship Fund
Make a difference by gifting a place at King’s. Donations to our Somerset Scholarship Fund increase opportunities for talented pupils who might not otherwise be able to attend. A more diverse community benefits everyone's education and strengthens the broader King’s network.
The Enhancing King’s Fund
Support pupil- and staff-led projects that make a tangible difference each term. Pupils from both the Prep and the College are encouraged to submit bids for funding to enhance learning and development. The fund not only transforms daily life at our schools but also teaches valuable skills in leadership, communication, and initiative as pupils identify opportunities, prepare proposals, and present their cases.
Inspiring Spaces
From the careful restoration of cherished buildings, such as the Chapel and Main Building, to the creation of new facilities like the Junior Common Room and Performing Arts Studio, your support helps us preserve our heritage and build for the future. Some donors contribute through broader appeals, such as Giving Days, while others choose to make transformational gifts towards major projects, like the Philip Richards Building.
Where the Need is Greatest
Flexible, unrestricted support enables the School Council and leadership team to allocate funds to the most urgent priorities throughout the year. More supporters are also leaving gifts in their wills to be used at the school’s discretion, allowing King’s to pursue new opportunities, address future needs, and continue developing for generations to come.
We are deeply grateful for every contribution. Supporters are acknowledged in our publications and invited to special events throughout the year. Those who give regularly, make leadership donations, or pledge a legacy are recognised through our dedicated giving societies. If you wish to give anonymously, your preferences will be fully respected.
We would be pleased to explore how your support can reflect your interests and values, from named bursaries and specific projects to gifts of shares, tax-efficient giving from overseas, and legacy wording.
