We were delighted to welcome back James Rew and Abby Hughes who officially opened our new Junior Common Room.
The new building, located with a backdrop of the school’s playing fields has been designed as a modern, flexible social hub for pupils in the lower years. The space features large glass doors opening onto an adjoining outdoor area, creating a versatile indoor‑outdoor space that can be used throughout the year.
Speaking at the opening, James Rew said he was delighted to return to his former school and see how it continues to adapt and invest in its facilities.
Abby echoed these sentiments, expressing her pride in seeing the school continue to evolve for future generations and provide the support and space for pupils to thrive, just as it did during her own time at King’s.
The Junior Common Room has already played host to a range of activities including house events, film and DJ nights. The patioed outdoor area will be used extensively from now for summer events and barbecues. At weekends, it will also serve as a welcoming venue for parents and supporters to enjoy match teas during sports fixtures.
Headmaster Michael Sloan expressed his gratitude for the generous support of parents, OAs and staff who contributed to the project, underlining a shared commitment to the continued development of the school facilities and the wider pupil experience.
