Code of Conduct for Pupils

Anyone taking part in the careers programme must follow our Codes of Conduct. We ask that pupils and OAs are polite, respectful and professional to each other at all times. King’s College Taunton reserves the right to read messages sent through the King’s Global Connect system, although it will not monitor conversation.

These Codes of Conduct will be periodically updated.

Code of Conduct for King’s College Taunton Pupils

Using King’s Global Connect (KGC) will be a learning process for all pupils to some extent.  You should approach its use as you would a professional networking site such as LinkedIn.  You should treat the platform and those with whom you communicate through it, with respect.  You might be judged in the future by the way you use social media now, remember this!

1) All communications with people outside of the school regarding careers and university choices must be undertaken via the King’s Global Connect messaging function.  This is not only to safeguard you as a pupil, but to enable the College to measure the extent of use the platform.  This restriction applies however well you feel you might know your correspondent.

  • If you know of an OA, for instance, whom you would like to approach, but they are not on the list, please contact development@kings-taunton.co.uk.  We will ask the OA in question to sign up.
  • Any exception to using KGC as a form of contact (e.g. to speak to a professional not eligible to be on the platform) should be approved by futures@kings-taunton.co.uk and your parent/houseparent.

2) When communicating on KGC be:

  • Polite;
  • Respectful;
  • Professional;

Remember to thank them for their time and for any advice they have given.  Remember that in a year or two, it might be you being asked for advice.

3) There are categories of support that will be evident when you use the platform.  However, you should be clear about what level of support you are seeking and what your timeframe is.

4) You should not expect any personal or professional favours from any OA you meet via KGC.

5) Your conversations will be monitored as part of the safeguarding protocol.

We hope you find the King’s Global Connect platform a useful and engaging tool. If you have any suggestions for improvements or changes in the way it works, please do let us know at development@kings-taunton.co.uk
