Both the College and the Prep have been recognised as exceptional places for children to learn, grow and thrive following a recent visit from the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI). The findings provide powerful, independent confirmation of what families and staff know to be true every day: that King’s is a nurturing, ambitious and deeply supportive school community. 

Inspectors visited both schools in November 2025, spending time in classrooms, boarding houses and co-curricular activities, and speaking with pupils, staff and parents. Their report paints a vivid and affirming picture of two flourishing schools where children are known as individuals, wellbeing is prioritised, and confidence, curiosity and character are developed alongside academic achievement. 

We have been awarded a “Significant Strength” for high-quality pastoral care and nurturing community, a distinction granted to only around one in ten schools nationally. This rare recognition is a source of immense pride and reflects the exceptional quality of care at the heart of the school. 

Inspectors describe a “vibrant and caring community” in which pupils’ wellbeing underpins all aspects of school life. They highlight the highly effective integration of boarding and day pupils, noting that this creates a cohesive and inclusive culture where positive relationships flourish. Rigorous monitoring of individual needs ensures timely, personalised support, enabling pupils to thrive socially, emotionally and academically. 

Teaching was also praised for the level of enthusiasm shown, strong subject knowledge and varied approaches, inspiring pupils to develop a genuine love of learning and the confidence to take intellectual risks.  

The extensive co-curricular and sporting programme was also recognised as extensive, enriching pupils’ experiences and offering outstanding opportunities for leadership, teamwork and personal discovery beyond the classroom. 

Safeguarding was identified as the highest priority within the school, with our dedicated staff praised for their level of training and true commitment to keeping every child safe and well cared for. 

At the Prep, inspectors highlighted the school’s warm, welcoming atmosphere and the strong foundations it provides for children from the early years through to Year 8. Pupils’ wellbeing was found to sit firmly at the centre of leadership decisions, shaping a culture rooted in kindness, curiosity and respect. 

The report celebrates the nurturing environment in which children form secure relationships, participate with confidence and develop independence. Inspectors noted the benefit of well-structured routines, thoughtful transitions and a carefully sequenced curriculum that supports both academic progress and personal growth. 

In the early years, children were observed enjoying rich opportunities for exploration, communication and early literacy, laying strong foundations for future learning. Across the Prep School, specialist teaching, enrichment activities and outdoor learning broaden pupils’ experiences and help them discover new interests and talents. 

Strong pastoral care, effective safeguarding and close relationships between staff and pupils were highlighted as key strengths, ensuring children feel safe, listened to and supported throughout their school journey. 

Across both schools, clear themes run through the ISI reports: approachable and effective leadership, dedicated staff working collaboratively, inclusive and respectful communities, and environments where pupils feel secure, valued and confident to challenge themselves. 

For current families, the inspection findings offer welcome independent affirmation of the exceptional education and care they see every day. For prospective families, they provide reassurance that both schools offer far more than academic success alone; they offer a school experience where children are nurtured as individuals and encouraged to flourish at every stage of their education.
